CommVault to Showcase Simpana 10 Strategies to Manage Clinical and Operational Data at HIMSS 13

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Guest post by Jay Savaiano

Today's healthcare environments are tasked with managing and protecting ever-increasing amounts of patient information across hundreds of systems, while ensuring compliance with strict healthcare regulations. In addition to meeting stringent HIPAA compliance demands, healthcare organizations must also address HITECH and Meaningful Use requirements. At HIMSS13, CommVault will highlight its proven solutions that alleviate these obstacles inherent in addressing and managing the current explosion in clinical and operational data growth.

CommVault's Simpana®10 software has taken an exponential leap in helping healthcare organizations to better protect, access and analyze vital patient data and electronic medical records. Simpana software continues to deliver the industry's leading data protection with archive, reporting, recovery and search capabilities within a unified platform. Simpana software is an essential component to modernize healthcare data management strategies and helps healthcare organizations to improve operational efficiency, support new applications, plan for disaster recovery, and minimize storage costs – all within the context of ensuring regulatory compliance.

CommVault will highlight its latest healthcare innovations at HIMSS13 and will demonstrate how Simpana 10 software alleviates the obstacles inherent in addressing and managing the current explosion in clinical and operational data growth. Simpana software's new Healthcare Search feature indexes DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) from PACS (Picture Archiving & Communications Systems) images with extended search criteria that takes an extraction of the metadata from the DICOM image. Medical professionals can rapidly search and retrieve DICOM associated metadata within a multitude of disparate PACS systems. This is all within the new Simpana ContentStore, which indexes and organizes unstructured healthcare data, ready to be mined for game-changing analytics that ultimately improve outcomes and enable safe, secure and intelligent utilization of clinical data. Simpana 10's flexible architecture has dozens of integration points and new professional services which enable healthcare IT departments to further optimize clinical operations.

As a HIMSS platinum corporate supporter, CommVault will convene with clinical application partners, resellers, technology partners, industry thought leaders, and customers. Together, they will discuss best practices for reducing healthcare data management costs, increasing operational efficiencies and mitigating compliance risks. Additionally, CommVault will share the results of a timely HIMSS survey that provides insight into the latest trends and technologies for mobile data, compliance strategies, healthcare IT spending initiatives, and managing data in the cloud.
