
Over 450 respondents identified as backup and recovery users rated their backup products and vendors in five categories: sales force competence, product features, initial product quality, product reliability and technical support. For the third time in four years, CommVault Simpana® software secured the number one overall ranking against a field of four other enterprise competitors, with more than 80 percent of respondents indicating their willingness to repurchase Simpana software today if they had to make the decision again.
Gartner rated CommVault as "Positive" in their 2008 Enterprise Backup/Recovery Software MarketScope. According to Gartner, vendors who receive a "Positive" rating demonstrate strength in specific areas, but execution in one or more areas may still be developing or inconsistent with other areas of performance. They recommend existing customers to continue planned investments, and potential customers should consider the vendor a viable choice for strategic or tactical investments, while planning for known limitations. In the 2008 Enterprise Backup/Recovery Software MarketScope, this was the highest level awarded to any vendor.
Gartner positioned CommVault in their 2008 Magic Quadrant for E-Mail Active Archiving. According to the report, "CommVault saw a major repositioning during last year with the July 2007 release of its Simpana platform and upgraded e-mail archiving solution.
