CommVault shares climb after 1Q earnings double

OCEANPORT, N.J. -- Shares of IT software provider CommVault Systems Inc. climbed Tuesday after the company said its net income in the April-June period more than doubled.

The Oceanport, N.J., company sells data management software under the Simpana brand to large businesses. CommVault partners with companies that make hardware, such as PC maker Dell ( DELL - news - people ) Inc. and data management and storage company NetApp Inc. Its software helps customers with data backup, recovery, archiving and other services.
