Dot Hill beefs up entry-level SAN with 3 TB drives; other storage news

Dot Hill Systems Corp. began shipping AssuredSAN 3000 Series entry-level SAN arrays with 3 TB disk drives, bringing the system's maximum capacity to 36 TB in a 2U configuration. Dot Hill also upgraded its AssuredRemote replication features.

AssuredRemote supports up to 1,000 snapshots per array, and Dot Hill has added wizards and scheduler improvements to make the application easier to set up and manage. AssuredSAN 3000 arrays support 8 Gbps Fibre Channel and 10 Gigabyte iSCSI. A dual controller AssuredSAN 3730 Fibre Channel model populated with 3 TB drives is expected to sell for approximately $15,960.
