CommVault and Dell continue to build on a long-standing partnership and strong integration between their respective software and hardware platforms. Dell recently began offering CommVault's Simpana 9 software, and now has certified it with the DX Object Storage Platform which enables backup and archive data to be centrally managed using CommVault's policy-based Retention Lifecycle Management (RLM) through a single architecture and interface. When used together, the CommVault Simpana and Dell DX Object Storage Platform solution can help reduce the cost of retaining and archiving data, while minimizing risks associated with corporate, legal or regulatory governance.
With the certification on the DX Platform, Simpana's RLM-based content archiving enables organizations to reclaim valuable and costly primary storage space by automatically moving selected data to the highly cost-effective Dell DX Object Storage Platform, and also allows for global policies to centrally govern when and how information is retained.
Additionally, Dell's PowerVault DL Appliance -- Powered by CommVault now comes integrated with Simpana 9 software, which helps to improve data management with the addition of increased virtualization scalability, integrated source and target deduplication, as well as automatic integration with Dell EqualLogic and PowerVault MD Array hardware-based snapshots.
